Many fad diets revolve around one main rule: Low-Calorie Diets. These diets claim that the lesser amount of calories you consume daily, the more likely you are to lose weight.
When in reality, all this really does is push your body into a mode of starvation so that it begins to store fat instead of burning it.
To describe fast metabolism, it is wise to first explain what 'metabolism' actually is.
Metabolism, which is derived from a Greek term meaning transformation or change, is a set of chemical processes that happen within the cells of our bodies. It converts food and other substances into fuel our bodies use as energy for blood circulation, muscle contraction, breathing, nerve and brain function, and much more.
Metabolism is a vital system we depend on to survive. It is what enables us to walk, talk, think – really, to function, in general. Without metabolism, we could not exist.
The problem with yo-yo dieting is that it can get your body into a metabolic coma. Many of the fad diets out there are based on very low calorie eating, or starvation – such as all you can consume for 3 days is lemon water with maple syrup or something crazy like that.
How can your body possibly lose weight when it is storing any fat that you do eat as a means to keep itself functioning? Because of these diets, your body thinks it’s starving.
So, instead of burning foods off as energy, it stores it as fat. You cannot possibly lose weight, because your body begins hoarding all of the fat instead of burning it off!
If you are giving your body the proper amount and types of foods, your metabolism, which is a significant process in losing weight, speeds up, and your body begins processing the food that you eat, burning some of it as energy to keep the body processes functioning and then burning the remaining off as fat, resulting in guaranteed weight loss!
Here is how you can do something about it: Continue reading
Dieting sucks, correct? Well, does anyone consider dieting as fun? I have never met one. This is mostly because as soon as you talk to people about dieting, they hear “deprivation” and “starvation”, and not being able to eat good tasting food… Never ever again! Surely that cannot be fun!
However, dieting does not have to be like that. I’m not going to tell you a lie by saying you’re allowed to eat whatever you like anytime you want, and as much as you want. Let’s face it, in case any diet or fitness “guru” guarantees you something like that, run and run fast. It’s a scam! Continue reading
We’ve been told all our lives that “breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” And, of course, “important” means much more than just that you have breakfast. What you have for breakfast can make all the different for your energy levels and well-being all day long. And a healthy habit of good breakfasts is necessary for a lifetime! Continue reading
Who doesn’t want to see a reduction in their midsection? When at the gym or the beach, we’d all like to be a little trimmer in the belly. But there’s one thing that is working against us, no matter how much we exercise, and that’s bloating. A feeling of a swollen or distended abdomen can make us feel uncomfortable and bloated. But is goes beyond just feeling fatter; bloating actually can be seen when it’s really bad. Continue reading
